The admissions register only deals with the boys who have committed an offence and have been sentenced to spend time at the Reformatory. There may be other records for the Reformatory held in Birmingham Archives at the City Library that contain information, but I do not have these. Sorry I can't help.
Thankyou for the information. Of course even at the latest he could've been born 1839, it would make him 22 in 1861. Hardly a "boy" of course!

Hi Tooligie, I am researching the some of my ancestors in the Willis family originating from Worcestershire/Warwickshire/Gloucestershire/Devon and Hampshire. My grandfather was George Henry, born 1886 in Exeter. There were other predecessors with teh same name. Where does your Henry George originate from, and where/what year was he born??

Hi, I've just joined this forum after looking for information on Reformatory Schools. Does anyone have any information on the Saltley Reformatory School, Warwickshire, admissions circa 1861?

I've just stumbled on this message board, and this post following a web search on Reformatory school admission records.
I think I may have an ancestor that went to Saltley Reformatory School. If Dusty2 or anyone else has access to the admission records and could do a search for me, I'd be VERY grateful.
The person I'm interested in is Joseph Willis born 1833/1836/1839 in Droitwich Worcestershire. He is listed as having been in the Saltley Reformatory School on teh 1861 census as a gardener.
