Yes it's quite possible.  She was born in 1924 and didn't meet my dad until after the war, getting married in 1947.  She, herself, was brought up by her grandmother so she wouldn't want to put her through that again. I think I am going to have to sit and go through all the quarters.

The person that you found, I have had him come up many times when I have been looking as that seems to be the only person in the country with that name.  I dismissed it because Ancestry has the person down as a female and also he is in the south and my grandmother, mum and I were all born in Leicestershire.  The Ryders before that were from Colchester.
