Can any one please tell me if they see anything other than what I see for my ancestor's written signature on signing off on her marriage record? She was born in Germany, married in Montreal and, her Anglican name is BEACH on the marriage record. Her german spelling, or so I am told is BIETSCH. Her signature looks to be spelled: B-E-I-T-Z-C-H or even B-U-T-Z-C-H. Thanks in advance for your help. Attached is the signature.  :)

Yikes! Then I guess that's just the luck of the draw and the puck ends there, so to speak?

It's too bad because it's a storyline that I have been wanting to follow to see if there is any truth to it and what really happened.  And to get the names of the parents which sadly the marriage and death records don't reveal.

The interesting thing is that according to the census, Ernestine & Elizabeth were put into the 'Anglican Female Orphan Asylum' in Quebec which opened in 1861. However, if the 'Bothe' transcript applies to them as well then they would have been placed into the Female Protestant Orphanage in Montreal or Quebec City.  It would be a miracle if there were records existing regarding their admission but, somehow I doubt that.

This one is a toughie for sure.  Thanks for your assistance...or any more suggestions.

Sincerely, Angela  :)

Europe / Ernestine & Elizabeth BEITSCH from Hamburg, Germany (At my wit's ends!)

Hello Everybody,

I am looking for two sisters: Ernestine and Elizabeth BEITSCH who immigrated from the port of Hamburg, Germany (according to family members) when they were little girls. So, this would have been the early 1850's.  I have found them in the 1861 Census (attached) and this collaborates with the "story" as so many of my relatives told me how they were tagged on the ship and then sent off to an orphanage in Quebec.  I have ALL the information regarding what happened to them after they got out of the orphanage but, I do not know what village in Germany they came from.  I contacted the archivist from the orphanage where they were and he had promised to look into things for me but I never heard back from him despite my following up once in a while.  Please help LOL. If you can....I have all of their marriage records from Montreal and their internment and burial records from the parish.  What I am really after is their immigration info.  On Ernestine's marriage record, she goes by Beach but her sister Elizabeth goes by her germanic name Beitsch.

Miraculously I was able to find a ship report on a website. It says: "Two German children became chargeable in this department during the past season; they were deserted by a woman, supposed to be their mother, who came passenger in the ship Mary Michison, from Hamburg, in the early part of July. Having placed them in lodgings, and every exertion being made to discover their relations or friends, I, on the close of the navigation, made application and obtained admission for them as orphans into the Protestant Female Orphan Asylum in this city; their names are Bothe, and they are of the age of 5 and 7 years respectively."

So, for whatever reason...my file is too large to attach but if you search 1861 census of Canada, you will see Ernestine and Eliz.  Thanks for your help!!!

US Lookup Requests / Re: Henry Harry BOSTON of Cuyahoga, Ohio (1900-1920)

P.S. I found Henry Boston in Ontario directory...on 79 Sydenham (Toronto) up until 1904...in 1905, it says 'Mrs. Margaret Boston' instead of Henry Boston.  Do you think that this indicates he may have died in between that time??

Peace, Angela

Wow thanks Sandra...I can't wait to add Virginia to my family tree  :) It is exciting to add any Boston family member!!! You rock!!!  ;) I am such a genealogy addict!!!

Thank you for all of your help.  If you ever stumble upon Henry by coincidence or have any suggestions of where I can look next, please don't hesitate to let me know!!!

From what you are saying, I think my next step will be to check to see if he is in a directory in Toronto (during the 1900's). Should one exist.  Maybe the Ontario Archives can help me too.

Mucho appreciated!!! -Angela0

Hi Sandra,

Thanks for your time and energy :) I appreciate all the information.

Henry Harry Boston (Senior) was born 1855 in Middlesex, England.  I know he immigrated in 1870-71 as I found him in the 1871 census of Canada as a lodger. And he married not long after.

You're right...perhaps he DID die in Ontario.  I could not find him among the online WWI database.  It's most perplexing.  For all I know, he may have died in England...or abandoned Margaret (as the rumor is).

Sincerely, Angela  :)

Hello, I am desperately seeking the death date of my ancestor, HENRY HARRY BOSTON.  He was born in England and I am guessing he would have died in Cuyahoga, Ohio as did his wife, Margaret Ann Boston (Taylor).  She shows up in the 1920 U.S. census in Ohio and she is listed as 'WIDOW'.  And I did find a death certificate for her on familysearch which stated that she died in the Lakewood Hospital in Lakewood.  She was transported to her previous residence in Toronto and buried there (without her husband).

I wonder whether Henry Harry Boston was possibly in the Second World War and may have died in Ohio during the war.  I can find NO trace of him, whatsoever, and I have looked in passenger lists and in Canada to U.S. passports (vice versa) on ancestry. Nothing shows up. Except for his widowed wife...travelling from Buffalo to Toronto and Toronto to Buffalo, N.Y. on short-term visits.  I also found a Henry Boston buried as a Civil War vet in 1899 (Ohio), however, he was born in 1855 and he was in Ontario during the Civil War.

Does anyone have any suggestions??!

Sincerely, Angela

Dear Keith,

I did find some information via my Ancestry membership that may be useful.  However, I am not sure if this account actually belongs to you.

Buried in: Findlay, Hancock County, OHIO on 21 FEB 1927 (Maplegrove Cemetery, Section X, Block 28, Lot 49, space 1)

Thank you kindly, Steven.  That name "Mary" does pass down through the Boston generations so I will definitely look into it.
