I am confident that Charles middle name is Francis. In the course of my research a cousin in Ireland supplied me with detailed  information including dates of birth places of birth, marriages etc. of Charles and his siblings. It all tied in with my own research and I trust it's accuracy. It names Charles Francis Campbell born 26 Sep 1892 in Munsboro, Mullymucks Roscommon. It has all the correct details of his wife and their deaths and places of burial. It names Kathleen but has no other details which may be because the research was done some years ago. The 1901 Irish census has Charles aged 8 which he would have been at the time of the census. Having now looked at the 1915 New Jersey census The dob for Charles is not viable as it is one month before his sister Christina (age 6 on Irish 1901 census) was born. Also the dob for Martin is wrong by 4 years he was born in 1887 and is in the 1901 census age 13.. I think whoever supplied the details for the form did a best guess, I am happy that the 1892 birth is correct and with the name Francis.
Thank you for the death certificate. I suspect the illness was why Kathleen was not with her parents in 1930. I wonder where her mother was in 1940?

United States of America / Charles Campbell and Beatrice/Bridget Egan

Charles Francis Campbell was born  on26 Sep 1892 in Roscommon Ireland, parents were Henry Campbell and Catherine Mugan. He died on April 16 1934. His obituary appeared in the Montclair Times of 24 April 1934. This says he was a former resident of Montclair, died in Staten Island after a long illness and  correctly names his parents and siblings. It further says he leaves a wife Beatrice Egan Campbell and daughter Kathleen. I have found Kathleen in 1930 and 1940 a lodger at 696 Bloomfield Rd Montclair but not her parents. In 1920 with his brother Martin, Charles was a lodger at the same address. I am not aware of any connection between Charles and the householder Daniel Hart. In 1950 Beatrice and Kathleen were at 53 Lloyd Rd Montclair. I have a petition for USA naturalisation
from a  resident of 53 Lloyd Rd Montclair, the widow of Charles Campbell and has a daughter Kathleen. Her name is Bridget Campbell and this is what she signed. Information on the form is that she was born on 18 Jul 1881 in Frenchpark (which is in Co Roscommon Ireland), married on June 1st 1920 in Montclair and Kathleen was born on Jul 1st 1921 at Orange, New Jersey. The form gives her New York arrival details and I have checked the relevant passenger lists, confirmed her arrival details in April 1909 but birth year is shown as 1886, and her last foreign residence was Blackburn England and she had been in New Jersey since 1919. Kathleen died 11 Feb 2005 in Atlantic City. Charles is buried in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery Montclair as is is Beatrice Campbell. They are in different plots.
Working on the theory that Bridget = Beatrice I am looking for her and Charles' marriage and any census records other than those mentioned above. I have fully researched Charles' siblings and am not researching the Egan family.

Armed Forces / Re: Cause of Death meaning

Thank you very much for your replies. The death was category 3 aged 18 and was a sick berth attendant in the UK. I cautiously assume the Spanish flu.
Thank you both.

Armed Forces / Cause of Death meaning

Looking at a list headed "Naval Casualties Indexes War Grave Rolls and Statistics Book, First World War", the column “ Cause of Death” contains either 1, 2 or 3. What do these stand for?
Thank you

Thank you for replying. I have downloaded Firefox. I have clicked on the settings icon and then opened up "settings". I cannot find the" Privacy search and services" heading. There is a Privacy and Security heading but I cannot see any reference to Address bar. Thus I am no further forward.
