Hi Maurice,
I have found this thread really interesting as I have been trying to trace my family tree for some time.    I too am descending from Susan Ann Rampling born in Auckland, NZ on 11 November 1851.  I was of the impression that her father James Rampling was transported as a convict to NZ in 1842.  Maybe I have this wrong?
