Hi Jessica
Regarding my last post, you will not be able to contact me through the PM system until you have 2 posts, so if you get to read this please send me a message via the normal route, this will bring your posts up to 2, you will then be able to send me your email address via a PM so that I can let you access my TribalPages web site. TribalPages will then accept you as a 'Family Member' on my behalf.
Do you live in the UK and does your Uncle Tom? Was he a son of C. Daryll Forde, or did his father, John P.D. Forde and his wife, Caroline nee Pittman, have more than one child?
Kind regards,
Jane

Hello again Jessica,
It has been awhile since my last message to you, and I have ony just found out that I wrongly put my email address on it which Roots Chat removed to stop spamming. Since then, in October 2013, we moved house but sadly my husband died 2 months after our move, so things were very unsettled for awhile.
I have a lot of information and photos on the Ford/Forde family, including C Daryll Forde. If you want to look at my web site on TribalPages send me your email address via RootsChat Private message route (PM) and I will send you the code to access it. I tried sending a message to you via PM but it said your In Box was full. I will try the regular route again:).
Kind regards,
Jane

Scotland / Re: James Allison - finding him
« on: Sunday 21 June 15 19:27 BST (UK)  »
This is probably a bit of a red herring but maybe the following will be of some use to you. I have a record of a James Allison and his wife Mary or Marion, maiden name Durward, They were living at 47 Albany Street, Leith, Edinburgh, and died there. James in 1871 and his wife in 1875.
James was a Ships Master. Captain of the 'Royal Adelaide' a steamer that sailed between Leith and London.
I believe that they had a daughter called May Allison b. 1833. I found her on the www.familysearch.org/ site, by typing the names of the parents only.
My interest in this family has nothing to do with my familiy history, apart from the fact that my g.grandmother, Ann Currie, en route to London from Leith in 1844, gave birth to twins on the Royal Adelaide. The twin, Allison, my G. Grandmother, was named after the ships Captain, and the twin Adelaide. after the ship. See attachment.
Regards,
Jane Joy.

Midlothian / Re: Hawthornden

Hi,
I noticed your interest in The Drummond Family from Hawthornden, Lasswade, Miodlothitian. The following link maybe of some help. I have copied & pasted the interesting part from the link below.
Incidentally, my 3xG.Grandmother, Agnes Currie from Lasswade, gave birth to an illegitimate son in 1821 at Hawthornden, she was employed as a servant at Hawthornden House. I now live not far from there, but I lived for a few years in Cupar, Fife, where Hill of Tarvit House is sited.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Jane Joy

Scot was three times married: first, to Anne, sister of William Drummond of Hawthornden, the poet, by whom he had two sons and seven daughters; secondly, to Margaret, daughter of Sir James Melville of Hallhill; and thirdly, to Margaret Monpenny of Pitmilly, widow of Rigg of Aitherny, by each of whom he had one son. The son by his second wife, George Scott (died 1685), is known as a writer on America.
Sir John's male descendants became extinct in the person of Major-general John Scot, M.P. for Fife, his great-great-grandson, who, at his death on 24 January 1776, was reputed the richest commoner in Scotland. The general's fortune passed chiefly to his eldest daughter, who married the Duke of Portland, but the estate of Scotstarvet was sold to Wemyss of Wemyss Hall .

Peeblesshire / Re: Veitch & Bryce - possible Peeblesshire connection
« on: Saturday 11 October 14 12:42 BST (UK)  »
I remembered seeing messages from two people, one who mentioned the name Veitch, the other spoke of a Margaret Scot and the name Adam. I had a search and found two replies which were on Ancestry.com one in 2000 and the other in 2003, they were in answer to  queries I had regarding the name Currie/Wilson, it maybe just another coincidence but worth mentioning. The name Veitch is in the last message.  Liberton & Inveresk are only about a half an hour drive from Peebles.
Hope this helps.

Peeblesshire / Re: Veitch & Bryce - possible Peeblesshire connection

Thank you for your reply regarding the Scot family in Peebles. Just as a matter of interest, Andrew Scott, my 3 x G.Grandfather, son of James & Christian Scot, had a daughter called Ann, who married a Thomas Currie from Lasswade. In 1844 Ann gave birth to twin girls, see attachment, twins do run in families, this maybe a just a coincidence but I thought it was worth mentioning. Ann was travelling with her one year old daughter, Annie Ainslie Currie.
Here are a couple of websites which might be of help to you.
