That was quick!

Well, "Morness" Donald is my great great great great great grandfather and his son Donald my (one less great) grand father!

I said "I think" before because although I have a family tree from my grandmother which goes back to  Morness Donald I can't confirm my great grandfather - no-one seems to know much about him and he doesn't turn up in any searches for births, deaths, anything. I also found a reference that included his siblings as his parents' offspring but not him. My grandfather was a bit dodgy so I'm wondering if he just 'attached' himself to the Mackenzies!

I do have some helpful info for you though - in an account written by Morness Donald's great-grandson that I read again today he claimed to be the seventh in a generational line of sons named Donald. This would make Morness Donald's father Donald too. The account itself runs to about 10 pages of typed A4 and is quite interesting.

I would be very keen to find out more (and pass on the info I have)  but I think we need to work out how to do it outside this site. It is getting a bit late here (I am not in the UK!) - I will have a think tomorrow.
