Thank you all so very much.  I cannot believe how quickly you were able to find what I could not.

Looks like  William Nathan Smith and Emma Louisa Smith are my next challenges.  Especially Emma Louisa who seems to have disappeared at 13 (married?)

You all really have skills and they are appreciated

Gloucestershire / Shades of Downton Abbey - The Family "Shame"

Father did not know much about his ancestors in Gloucester, he came here to Canada as a young child with his parents.

Just started to do some ancestry research and discovered why.  Grandfather got grandmother pregnant and married her in her fifth month....not the thing to do in 1907.  It looks like they left the country and left family behind.  I would love to learn more about my great cousins etc. so anything on siblings of

Wilfred Bertie Smith, born Gloucester 1881, (listed in 1891 and 1901 census.  Married April 1, 1907 to Florence Annie Knott.  That is all I know about my Grandfather!   He had three sons, my father Wilfred Leslie, and his brothers Harold and Roy.

Bertie's father was William Smith, dob 1842 in Leamington Warwickshire (married to Laura Bayliss)

Any help in finding siblings of Wilfred Bertie Smith would be greatly appreciated.

Warwickshire / Thomas Smith 1792 is as far as I can get
« on: Sunday 06 September 15 00:18 BST (UK)  »
Calling from Canada, I can trace back my father's side to Thomas Smith born 1792 in Harbury, christened Feb 7 1793.  It looks like he married Sussanna Smith as they appear in the 1841 census.  I can not go any further back on Ancestry.com or other sources.

Any ideas.

Looks from my DNA that the majority of my relatives still are in the Warwickshire area with 15 matches on 23&me there vs. 1 or 2 elsewhere througout the UK and world.

Thank you Kerry and all the other respondents, I am starting to get a better picture and will share what I have....I have discovered another cousin who may have more details as well.....last week I new very little about my grandfather....this week I can to back over 200 years thanks to all of you....here is what I have so far.  From a variety of sources

It seems like I may have found a close cousin who shares the same grandfather as well through these links

Post 1:  Don, I am pleased that what I have found is correct..If I am right as the Smith surname is so difficult..I have got back from Wilfred Bertie Smith whose father was William Smith who married Louisa Bayliss on my previous email I got her name wrong and named her Laura..and William's father was Nathan Smith who was born in Tachbrook a village near Leamington, Warwickshire..., and Nathan Smith's father was Thomas Smith born in Harbury, Warwickshire in 1792...I have also found the parents of Louisa Bayliss...I am not sure if this could be our link as I have a John Smith who married Charlotte Mills in Warwick, Warwickshire..But I am not sure if Charlotte's daughter Eliza Mills was his daughter....I can't find out anymore information as there are so many John Smiths..but it seems he came from Warwickshire so I don't know if it is our link..
Post 2:  Hi Don, I have found the marriage GRO number for the marriage of Wilfred Bertie Smith and Florence Annie Knott 1907 Aston, Warwickshire which is now part of Birmingham..(still waiting for this) I have checked out ancestry and found two photographs of Florence Annie Knott...and one of Wilfred Bertie Smith..and also a son Harold who married Hilda Helen White...Harold was born 13th Jun 1910 in Birmingham...I have searched the 1911 census but not found him yet...I also checked out a birth for Wilfred Bertie and found one in Gloucester in 1881..I searched teh census returns and found a Wilfred Bertie was the son of William Smith and Laura. Both William and Laura were born in Leamington, Warwickshire..I will see if I can find a marriage reference for William and Laura....My 3rd great grandmotehr Eliza Mills who married a Tallis was illegitimate..But her mother Charlotte Mills married a John Smith in Warwick, Warwickshire c. 1817, after her baptism..Warwick is a few miles from Leamington... It was Eliza's daughter Eliza who married a John Smith and they moved to Aston, Birmingham...I don't think your Smith's link in with teh ones I sent earlier, and I have no idea how we are matched..but it does seem coincidental they are all in the same area...If you would like to send your email address I will send the photo's to you... It's not a problem for me to help in any way I can...

Thank you very much Jim1, you have taken me one step deeper
To the comment from Z, I am looking for anything from any of the individuals listed, births, marriages, children

One week ago I knew nothing of my family history on my father's side.....he came from Britain as a young child and would never talk about his background.
I recently got my DNA done at 23andme.com and it listed potential genetic matches.....one of them looks to be a potential 3rd cousin or so....branching off from a great great grandparent.

This person was able to get me back 4 generations quite quickly and introduced me to this site....now I am even deeper.

Thank you all to those who might be able to provide me with any information on my family background
