have you checked the ship arrivals or the convict arrivals for william. He may have coame out as a convict and was pardoned in Tas. A lot of them resettled in Victoria. Check Port Arthur records. Just a thought.

Have only just joined the rootschat and noticed your questions re Dutch/Paterson/Cadby families. Charles Dutch and Margaret Paterson were my GGGrandparents. They had a daughter Ellen who married John Riddle - his mother was Ann Cadby-daughter of George and I believe sister of Elizabeth.George was a soldier in Sydney NSW. I have a little bit of info on Charles if you want it.
