The Common Room / Re: What Country is your research ?
« on: Wednesday 08 February 12 13:57 GMT (UK)  »

Hi All,

I am currently researching into my family history in Cork, Ireland.

I became interested when we learnt that my mother had another sister she did not know about and the ball started unravel from there. We were introduced to a whole new family from her unknown sister  and her mother. It was amying to think we didnt know about it and they were from Cornwall. I started researching using my resources at the local library but then was advised to start using the internet., so here I am in a search to find out more about this lost family side.

Technical Help / Re: wi-fi interference
« on: Tuesday 07 February 12 14:56 GMT (UK)  »
While giving a Powerpoint presentation(s) I keep getting 'interrupted' by my AOL seeking local Wi-Fi signals to log on to.

You should be able to turn off the Wi Fi so it does not interupt what you are doing on the laptop elsewhere. Seeing as we are on the topic of improving your knowledge of working laptops/computers I went on a highly recommend a course that teaches you all about software and online shopping etc/ security risks and basic understaning of using programmes from miscrosoft work to excel and more advances ones as Indesign.  I went on the course for a few weekd and now feel much more comfortable using the web and programmes wihtout getting a virus etc.
