Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Marriage records for Isle of Wight
« on: Sunday 24 March 13 20:09 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all.....wondering if anyone can help.   :)

I have found a marriage record for a relative but have hit a wall with the groom.  I cannot find any mention of him anywhere other than on the marriage record.  ???

If anyone can access IOW records and let me know grooms dob and fathers name, I'd be extremely grateful.

The brides name is Violet Ethel May Pink, Groom is John Robert Duncan.  The marriage took place in 1927 at St John, Wroxall. Reference: COE58.1/56

Thanks  ;)

I've managed to track family back to Joseph Rishworth of Whiston, born 1778, married to Rebecca Bartholomew and have hit a brick wall.  :(

Joseph cites his birth place as Whiston but I can't find any record of it.

Am looking for any info on the family please.   :)

Hi JJen

I've seen this tree but I don't think it is correct as Edward Brady lived most of his life, in the army,  in India with his family.  The family were in England when Rose was a young child (1871 census) but according to his army service record he returned to India in 1873 and lived there for a further 18 years or so.

It is possible that this is the Rose I'm looking for but this Rose was 'born at Sea' and in later census's the Rose I'm looking for lists her birth place as Ireland.

I think the only way I can discount this Rose is to see who her father is on the marriage record.

Hi

Wondering if anyone visits the records office in Reading and wouldn't mind taking a peek at something.

Thomas Symes and Rose Brady, married Parish of the Holy Trinity, Windsor, 14th July 1891.  (Army marriage - would the records office have this info...?)

I've hit a bit of a brick wall as I have two Rose Brady's born around the same time a few miles apart so I need her fathers name to verify which one is my Rose Brady.

Would appreciate any help.

Many thanks    :)

Apologies - the rest of the family are in Kent...... so I'm used to looking at the Kent board not Sussex....!

Will go to Sussex now.

Hi

I'm looking for information about Sarah Pyall.

Can't find a record of her birth but have seen it listed as 1685 in East Guldeford, East Sussex.

Is there anyone that can help with confirming or discounting this.....?  Or point me in the right direction.

Many thanks

 :)

Hi B.E

Thank you for the information about Loscombe/Netherbury.  I knew that Loscombe came under the parish of Powerstock but didn't know that it would have been listed as Netherbury.

I have come across a couple of records from Netherbury that looked promising but discounted them.  I will go back to Netherbury and have another look.

Many thanks

Hi Wiggy

Firstly got information from Ancestry, double checked it at familysearch and triple checked on Dorset online parish clerks.  This is all new to me and a little confusing at times so am trying to find as much evidence as possible for each person.

Powerstock is also listed as Poorstock and I must admit the whole parish/town thing throws me a little.  I'm not entirely sure which towns come under the parish of Powerstock.  ???
