I too have a James Crump, an attorney in Coventry. My James Crump had two wives, the first Elizabeth (last name unknown) and children Charles, James, Elizabeth, Sarah and Henry John. His second wife was Sarah Hanbey. They married in 1814. They had one child Mary Anne Crump born in 1815. She married William Smith, a famous lexicographer. William Smith's mother was Maria Holland, daughter of Joseph Holland and Elizabeth Burbery. After the death of her husband William Smith Senior, Maria Holland married John Crump. They had 4 sons one of whom was my great great grandfather. I have also tried to link James and John but I have not been able to. I think it is obvious that they are probably brothers or cousins, possibly even uncle and nephew. John Crump was born about 1789 but I do not have a birth date for James. I hope this isn't too confusing. Let me know if you think they are the same people.
