Hi there,

I am also a descendant of the Filcocks and have some information which may be of use to you, would be interested in hearing more about what you've discovered! From my research I know that Elijah is the son of George Filcock and Elizabeth Orme. Other brothers and sisters include:

Elizabeth, Hannah, George, Peter and Sarah.

George Filcock was the son of Peter Filcock and Sarah Deakin who married on September 5, 1769 in Astbury Church, Cheshire.

Hope this helps,

Sam

Hi Quiller,

Thank you for looking. I think you're right... I think the 70 year old is probably too old (although you never know), but the other one is about the right age, so I'll take a lookl!

Thanks for looking. The only extra info I can give is that he'd be on his own, any with wives and children are out, as I found his wife Hannah and children in Alderley.

Cheshire Completed Lookup Requests / Thomas Minshall/shull look-up 1841

Hi. I was wondering if anyone could look up Thomas Minshall in Alderley, Cheshire on the 1841 census? He would have been approximately 40-50 (at a guess, although he could be older) and probably his occupation would be a butler.

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Re: John Swindells and Deborah Worrall

Hi Jean and Beth-

I found the 1841 census very useful but now I am at the point where it looks like parish records are starting to be the way to go and I don't know a whole lot about getting parish records beyond familysearch.org! So, I could really just contact Cheshire and get a photocopy of the parish record? And parish records have the same amount of information on them as certificates from 1837 onwards?

I am convinced that John Swindells and Deborah are my ancestors because of the 1841 census. I traced back my ancestors to a William Minshall, who I found on the 1841 census living in Alderley with Deborah Swindells, Hannah Minshall b. 1800 and twin babies b. 1838 Elizabeth Ann and John Minshall. The father's name and profession (Thomas Minshall butler/butcher) on the twins' birth certificates was the same as on William Minshall's marriage certificate, and in addition, William was living in Alderley at the time of his marriage. The birth certificates stated that the mother was Hannah Minshall nee Swindells, so I guessed that she must be the daughter of Deborah. I ordered Deborah's death certificate and it stated that she was the widow of one John Swindells.

Many thanks,

Sam

Sorry. I've realised that I've put this post in the wrong place. My apologies for that.

Cheshire Lookup Requests / John Swindells and Deborah Worrall

Hi. I have been tracing my ancestors and found what I believe to be a marriage record on familysearch.org for ancestors but I am not certain. John Swindells and Deborah (maiden name unknown) had at least four children who qare all buried with them in St. Mary's C of E at Alderley Edge:

Mary b. 1788
Elizabeth b. 1794
John b. 1797
Hannah b. 1800

I found a marriage record on familysearch.org for a marriage between John 'Swindal' and Deborah Worrall in 1785 in Runcorn, Cheshire. I think this is the marriage of my ancestors, but I am not sure. Does anyone have any advice as to how I can prove whether this record is for my ancestors' marriage or not?
Many thanks,

Sam

Flintshire Lookup Requests / Re: 1851/1861 census look up Jones/Davies

Yes, that would make sense. I looked up Mary Davies on the 1871 and 1881 census. On the 1871 census, one Sarah Jones, aged 20, her granddaughter was with her. I wondered if it would be possible for you to check the 1861 census for Henry + Susannah and family, to see if she's listed there as a daughter? It seemed like there was a big gap between John Hill (1848) and William (1855). If not, I understand, and I greatly appreciate the help you've given me - there's no way I could've found out all that from here!

I do have one question though... did Susannah and Henry really have 2 daughters named Catherine? It seems a bit weird!
