Hi Valerie

Matthew is not a name used in my Hopkinson family, who incidentally later dropped the -son and just called themselves Hopkins.  The names they used were John, Adam, Martin, William, Elisha and Robert was used in every generation.

Hi Sunflower

If as it appears Robert Hopkinson, father & son, died in N Wingfield by 1767 then I can eliminate them.  My Robert married and had children in Lambeth where his sons became Lightermen on the Thames but both my family and very distant cousins I have recently met have always said that Robert came from Derbyshire when he married at Stockwell in 1776.

I believe that Robert Hopkinson born to  Robert & Mary Hopkinson in North Wingfield in 1740 might be my ancestor who moved to Lambeth & became a Lighterman.  Does anyone know about this Derbyshire family>

My William & his son John McKinnon first appear in Kilmonivaig in Invernesshire in 1822.  I believe they came from Skye before that but I cannot find the evidence.

I believe I am descnded from William Hamilton born at Laigh Shawtonhill in 1743, his father Hugh born in 1707 & his grandfather Robert born 1681.  I would be interested in any records or graves in the Glassford parish.  Thanks

I also descend from the Pett family of Walpole St Peter.  There are many of us in the UK, USA & Australia.  Herbert Pett was the son of John Pett, a London docker.  John's parents were Charles Pett a butcher & his wife Ruth who are buried in the churchyard at Walpole St Peter.
