Hi Jo,
many thanks for the information, and it looks as though we are connected in some way.
I was illegitimate when born, hence also adopted. There has been no contact between myself and my birth mother or family.
Therefore I am being very careful regarding my identity now, and with respect to possible direct legitimate descendants of John Cocker who may not know of my existence.
I would love to give you further information, but not in a public fashion for obvious reasons. I have found possible matches for John Cocker on Genes Reunited as you have mentioned, and I am going to request to view what I think is your family tree through that website message service, basically to find out how we may be connected.
I hope to hear from you through there.
Regards

Hi again,
that's interesting, and sounds like the same one, and all I had was Hannah but no surname thus far, it looks correct. I do have further limited information leading down to my mother.
However this is quite sensitive to me, and could be to others , so I would like to know if possible how you are connected to John Cocker.
I have started researching this purely from a historical point of view, so any information or advice would be helpful.
Regards,

Hi, I was born a Cocker in Royston/Wakefield, subsequently legally adopted, with change of name.
According to my limited research, my Great, Great, Great Grandfather was born John Cocker in Wragby, 1816.
Any Relevence?
Regards,
