The Common Room / Re: Solicitors fees
« on: Tuesday 22 August 17 23:23 BST (UK)  »
Hi Dawsh. All beneficiaries  are in England except one who resides in Scotland. The beneficiaries all agreed to an initial fee of £1500 in January. Total value of estate is £241k .
CaroleW letters of admin etc amounted to about £300.
All 4 beneficiaries agreed to lawyers fees of £1500
Solicitor statement says agreed fee £1500 and anticipated fees to completion another £1400.
No explanation as to what the other £1400 is for.
Cheers

The Common Room / Solicitors fees

A relative who died recently intestate in England but all information on her assets/bank accounts were known at the time of her death to family members who willingly provided all information to the lawyers. We have been quoted a fee of £1500 which has been accepted by the legal beneficiaries but in the last few days the fee has jumped to over £3000.  Is this excessive?
Cheers

The Common Room / "Who Do You Think You Are", Series 14: #6 Lulu

Not normally a fan of Lulu but loved, loved, loved this episode. Maybe because her ancestors are from my home town and many families were affected by this religious divide.
Hope I've posted this in the right place.

Australia / Death/Funeral Notice - Graham & Anne McLachlan - NSW
« on: Wednesday 30 March 16 13:04 BST (UK)  »
Hi All,
I wonder if any of you kind folks would be able to look for any possible death/funeral notices for the following:

Graham Miller McLachlan died 16 May 1946
Anne Henderson McLachlan died 8?August 1971

I looked on Google Newspapers at the Sydney Morning Herald & Trove around these dates but there seems to be missing pages/editions on both of these around the time of their deaths, or if you can suggest any other resources I could check it would be much appreciated

Thanks for any help you can give

Thanks guys,
It's a very strange certificate as this person was married and his mother lived nearby.
I didn't want to post anymore info as it was only in 1961 he died in St. Bartholomews, London.

Thanks again,
Marie
