Thanks Sally!

I'm curious about the spelling "BOWCLES" instead of BOWLES. Just a typo?

I'm looking for the prison records from Forton Prison 1779-1783. I suspect Leonard Bowles buried in Rowner or Southampton in 1782/83 was the so called Capt. Bowles mentioned in the trial of David Tyrie who was convicted of high treason and executed in 1782. Do records for this prison exist?

No luck at all from the Churches. The reply from St John the Baptist Church was:

Dear Carl,

We have done some research and I'm afraid I don't think we can help you.
I'm so sorry.
The church is open everyday and you would be very welcome to call.

Best wishes
John Russell

He must not have read my email or ????? I told him that I was in the Bahamas....how can I just pop in.

A friend in the USA has offered to try and find them in the monumental inscriptions records that LDS has. I can't get the tapes here in Abaco. Also hope that I get a positive reply from St John the baptist church on Leonard Bowles,  d. 1768. He should have had a big gravestone or tomb he had lots of money. In his will he mentions the Three Thousand + pounds he loaned his son Leonard who lived in New Providence, Bahamas.

Still hopeful

Beautiful Sunny day and 71F

Hey Ray,

Got all three and already transcribed. Marvin states in his Will that he wanted to be buried next to his mother in the churchyard of "the church at Hemelhempsted".  I assume that the church at that time was St. Mary's...how close is that church to Waterend. FYI he also owned the "Red Lion" Inn.

Do you know who would have the burial records?

Thanks
