Ahh, yes. Definitely agree on the 2, and the consequent split between Mary's, Martha's etc! It is so bizarre that neither has a baptism record! How frustrating.

Hi Tazzie

Did you ever manage to get to the bottom of this rather elusive Charles? I think he maybe a red herring in our research, but here is where we are:

James Rickwood married Eleanor Cook (amongst others) and had various children including George (1790 - where our line descends from) but many trees seem to have a brother Charles, who doesn't appear to have been born anywhere. There is a Charles with a Lt. Livermere birth on the censuses would tie him in with George and the other children in this James and Eleanor line.

Also, these trees have Charles marrying Mary Hills, but we think he may actually have been married to Martha Steward in Ampton in 1815, with George Rickwood as a witness. Martha was from Lt. Livermere also.

So, how has anyone tied Charles to George as a sibling? How have they may the connection to
Mary Hills rather than Martha?

Can you shed any light?

Thanks

Ellen  :P

 Hello Ribbo & Annes....

  Thank you for those details...

I have been searching for Charles for a while now and he looks to be an ongoing case.
The Charles who dies aged 49 in 1864 shows born Mildenhall  in 1851 census with mother Ann.
The Charles born 1789 to John & Elizabeth is still alive in 1851 census stating born  Livermere Parva.
I found the  births on the LDS site but wondered if they were complete and its seem they are.
I have not yet come across James & Eleanor so I wonder if they are possibles.
Need to grab my old paper work and have another long look at this.

  Thanks

Thanks Sue. I think she must have been wife number 3....I guess the burial record doesn't mention parents names too?!

Suffolk / James RICKWOOD - Mildenhall 1738 or 1743?
« on: Thursday 29 December 11 19:28 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I have traced a line of Rickwoods back to James Rickwood, born about 1741, Mildenhall. I have various wives and children for him, but have not pinpointed his birth.

On the parish registers and IGI I have found:

Bap. 01 Oct 1738, Mildenhall - parents Henry Rickwood and Anne Stevens
Bap. 24 Apr 1743, Mildenhall - parents Richard Rickwood and Elizabeth Fincham.

Now, the only death for a James Rickwood I have found so far is Ampton 1834, age 93 - which doesn't tie in with either baptism record. I have also found a James dying in his early 20s, but it doesn't give any parental names, so I can't yet discount either.

Can anyone help me with pinning down his parents?

thanks!
