just found this post and had to reply although I can't help with the question of what happened to James Herbert...but...his firstborn son(Herbert Dean) to his wife Elizabeth was my grandfather and Nellie was his sister although I never knew that side of the family.My grandad would have been 3yrs old when his dad left and never knew what happened to him (or if he did he never told) therefore the story that I have a biggamist for a great grandfather is a very exciting story to me as is also the fact that I have canadian or american connections.I would love to know more
