Thank you so much for the information. I'm sure the spelling will not be a problem. I have found 42 variatiions of the name here in the States.

If the Parish Records go back to 1650 would you please check for the name John Adsit? I think he may have lived at Disley. The name is not to be confused with Adshead, which I believe came later.
