Anglesey / Re: Thomas twins, born 1893 Llanbadrig

Thanks to everyone for the information given, it has been of great help.

I'm now left to puzzle out how Elizabeth Ceridwen Thomas fits into the family when her mother's maiden name was Lewis!  The usual two steps forward and one back!

Maybe one of you would be kind enough to find if Elizabeth's younger brother had the same  mother? He is seen as John Owen Thomas born 1904, Rhosgoch, in the census.

You will perhaps gather that I'm non too familiar with this website, but am fast learning that it's members are a fountain of help and information. Sadly, my genealogy research has been interrupted by the radical, and in my opinion, retrograde changes Find My Past have decided to make to their website, which is now an absolute nightmare to use. Suggestions/recommendations  re alternative websites would be most welcome.

Thanks Carole,
I think birth certificates probably are the only answer.
In common with many Welsh surnames (my own included - Jones) researching Thomas is something of a nightmare, not helped by the fact that John Thomas' children were born in several different places!
Cheers
Sheila

Anglesey / Thomas twins, born 1893 Llanbadrig

Twins Richard William & Jane Margaret Thomas b1893 Llanbadrig. father; John Thomas born c1853 Amlwch.
I last found this family living at 'Bryn Awel', Burwen, Nr Amlwch, in 1911. At that time John Thomas was a widower living with his 17yr old twins and two further children. From death records it appears that the twins subsequently died within months of each other, aged 20.
The 1901 census had shown John married to Ellen, some 24yrs his junior, which makes me think that she was a second wife and not the twins mother.  Therefore, I wonder if anyone can shed any further light on this family.

Hi Sheila,
Being new to Roots Chat I have only just come across your old posting re the Nields at Ince. I too have a connection to William Nield/Mary Woodfine and wonder if you have taken the family back further than them?
Would be greatful for information if you have.
Best wishes
Sheila (too!)
