Hello again

I'm wondering whether I could get a little further help please.

The baptism of Richard Palmer in Tilehurst 1798 to parents Richard and Amy sounds like a really good bet. I was wondering if there was a marriage for Richard Palmer to Amy ....? Or any burial info for either of them.

Also, whether there's any burial information for either James Drew or Martha Drew (nee Stanton)? I could find her in the 1841 census living in Tilehurst but no mention after that.

Thanks
Deborah

Thank you for that extra information, it's much appreciated.

The Ellen Palmer in St Giles in 1841 seems to be the one.  She's living with William Dredge (they'd put his name around the wrong way) and presumably his wife Sarah. I found an 1838 marriage for William Dredge and Sarah Drew Wallin - "Drew" being a tempting lead. On familysearch I found a baptism for Sarah Drew Wallin in 1817 in Tilehurst to parents John Wallin & Sarah. There was a marriage of John Wallen to a Sarah Drew in 1815 in Shinfield (same place as Richard Palmer & Sophia Drew). There were also baptisms for Sarah Drew in 1792 and Sophia Drew in 1794 in Shinfield to parents James & Martha Drew, so it looks like a link between families has been established.

Thanks very much.
Deborah

Hello

I think we're interested in the same family.

My connection is to Ellen Palmer who came out to Australia in 1856 and married Thomas Mossman in 1857.  The marriage certificate lists her parents as Richard Palmer (butcher) and Sophia Drew.  Her immigration records give her native place as Theale.  She died in Sydney in 1927 at the age of 91.

We haven't yet been able to find her baptism but from the info we have we think she was born 1835-36.

Vicwinann, I was wondering whether you could please confirm that the child baptised in 1835 in Theale was Ellen? Also whether you have the exact dates for this baptism and the burials of her parents?

Although I seem to have found Richard Palmer living in Theale with some of his children in the 1841 census, I can't find Ellen (who I assume would have been 4 or 5). Could anyone offer any suggestions?

Christine (Bolton), I'm not sure of your exact interest, but if you would like Ellen's marriage and death certificates let me know and I can email them to you. Of course the same applies to anyone else who is interested.

Thanks
Deborah

Hi Fiona

Thanks for that information. I sent you a personal message containing my email address, but as I'm a rootschat novice I'm not sure whether it has reached you or not. Please let me know if it hasn't gone through.

Thanks

Hi Lakelass

We have family descended from George Crooks Watson - his daughter Hannah Melville Watson who was born in NSW. I haven't been able to find their immigration records as yet. I was wondering if you'd be able to let me know which ship they came across on.

Thanks
Deborah

Hi Burrod1

I'm actually descended from Emma Baker and her third husband George Reynolds.

I'm afraid I can't really help you with any new information about your William Green, but I'm wondering if you could kindly give me more information about Emma? The newspaper notices you refer to sound very intriguing. Do you know where I'd be able to get access to the Goulburn Herald?

Regards
Deb
