am researching my ancestor john/james baylis, who was trasported on the ship manluis to tasmania in 1830. his trial transcripts show he was living in islington, but was born in cheltenham 1807/1809. he was caught stealing plates and his brothers wife is mentioned in the report as both martha and charlotte. iff anyone has some information on the baylis from those areas i would appreciate it. the only other clue is a christening record for john bailiss 6 dec. 1807 in cheltenham, gloucester. thank you. helen.

james paisley, born circa 1806,lived in hobart,tas. married elizabeth, [bigamist on her part] 3 daughters, isabella, catherine,[my gr/grandmother married to james swann and james peck]and ?. he later married elizabeth samson, she 19, he 70. a son ernest born 2yrs later.does any one know of them or nationality ., cheers helen.
