Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / register of emigrant children

Apparently in leeds there is a register microfilmed PL/3/7/5.
I am looking for information as to why a john percy crowther was sent to Ontario, aged 10 on the 10 aug 1888 by the leeds board of guardians .He was on the ship Lake Ontario.According to the Canadian archives there should be 2 pages for him.I am interested to know who his parents were and if he was orphaned or abandoned. Without this information I cannot identify him in the census. Any help appreciated.
thank you Jane

Hello PHILCYMRO
My Phoebe had the following children that I know of.
Sarah born 1860
Ann 1862
Thomas 1864
David 1868
Francis 1869.
If it is the same family please reply and I will pm to you the email of my cousin who has moved to Australia as it is more her side of the family than mine.

sorry have found no further information not even in the war diaries in Kew.Looking at the date and other casualties it is possible to narrow down the actions but not prove anything.Still no sign of his service records.
Hope you have more luck.In the summer we intend to photograph Teignmouth war memorial as he is mentioned on it.
Regards
Jane

Glamorganshire / Re: mary thomas burial 22 jan 1931

thanks. I have not considered cremation ,but  from what I know of her it is not very likely. She lost a couple of children in infancy, so it is most likely that she is near to them and her mother. However  I cannot find her mothers death. she was also Mary Thomass and was a house keeper to James Thomas, mine owner. She died sometime between 1881 and 1891.With a name of Thomas and  not even a year of death, I just have to hope that I stumble on it by chance.
