Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / John W James born 1777

I am hoping someone can help me, or at least point me in the right direction.
Here is the info that I'm need of:
John W James
b abt 1777
The only bit of information that I have was that he was born in Gloucestershire, England. He immigrated to the US, but I don't know the exact date of when he left England. His wife's name was Sarah, b abt 1785 in England (not sure where in).
I would very much like to find out more about him, but with his name being so common it has been very difficult. Thanks!
