Antrim / Re: Thomas Reid, b:1810'ish, Ballyrobin/Stranocum area

Thanks so much, aghadowey, for your reply.  I have much of the same information on Edward Reid's children, with the addition of Kate J Reid, born 1875.  She later married Hugh Kelly of Stroan.  I believe their descendants still own the farm along the Stroan Rd.
There must be two Ballyrobin townlands, however, as one is immediately to the west of Stanocum along the Kirk Rd.  I walked the entire area for a week this past spring and fell in love with the area.

My next task is more difficult, however, in tracing Edward's line backwards.  All I have is Thomas as his father.
Thanks again and Happy Holidays, Dave

Thanks, Jim.  You have me going down the right path.  I hope to literally walk some of these paths when I am able to visit next spring.  Cheers, Dave, & a Happy Holiday Season to you as well.

Thanks again, Shane.  I think I'm getting the hang of the terminology.  I was just on your links as you replied, and know where to go next. :)

Thanks, Shane and Elwyn, for your prompt replies.  My family history seems to be plagued by inter-faith marriages (of which I am guilty, also), so knowing which church records to investigate is sometimes difficult. Thanks for the general guidance as well.
@Elwyn, do you have a specific link to that marriage record?
Cheers, Dave

Thanks so much, Kings, you've made my day!
I can't wait to visit that area on my next trip over.
(PS, I spent a week in L'Derry this year and loved it.)
Cheers, Dave

Sligo / Parents of John McHugh
« on: Monday 05 December 11 17:44 GMT (UK)  »
Seeking parental information on John McHugh, who was born abt. 1851.
He was married 15 April 1871 to Bridget Hynes in Calry Parish.
He and Bridget had two children in Sligo; Margaret (1872) and Mary Rose (1874) before emigrating to Glasgow, where they had 5 additional children.

Bridget's parents were James Hynes and Margaret Tierney, so any information along these lines would be helpful also.

Thanks for your interest.

Sligo / Marriage Michael Cunningham to Mary McCann
« on: Monday 05 December 11 17:08 GMT (UK)  »
Seeking information and family links to Michael Cunningham and Mary McCann, both born abt. 1812.  Married abt. 1832 in Co. Sligo.
They had at least one child, also Michael, born abt. 1842.
Michael (2nd) emigrated to Glasgow sometime before Jan. 1868, as he was married there to Elizabeth King.  Story has it that they met on the boat to Scotland, so not sure where in Ireland Elizabeth was from, but her parents were George King and Elizabeth Patterson.

My 1st post, folks.  Thanks for any help!
