I am very interested in your photos , 57, 59, 88 and 131 as I have been researching my Gt Uncles Naval record and find that he was on HMS Miner in 1913 at Muscat, Oman (receiving Persian Clasp) and there is a photo of HMS Miner on the web of Cuthbert Helsham Heath -Caldwell with the same background. Also there is a diary which is an insite as to the events of the time which were pre WW1.

Hello Carol,
THank you for your idea. Having done the family history I should have thought of it myself!

I am unable to find a marriage record and I had hoped that he had some children/relatives who would be interested in his wartime service as like my father he was with special services/ intelligence and would have some info about their work together

He was Sgt. no 1331368 72 OTU RAF ME
Before WW11 he was a bank official and obtained  his flying certificate at The Midland Flying Club 20.04.1938

My Gt grandfather was a "coal trimmer" He overlooked the loading of coal on to barges and ships and made sure that the load was evenly distributed in the hold.

My father, Basil Blake, during WW11, met Sgt Hall, No 1331368, in Cairo Feb 1942.
Robert Edwin Hall was a Sgt in RAF. On the back of photo is written 72 OTU RAF ME. Wadi Gazuzu and Kenya.
I am searching my fathers service history and would like to know of anyone who is related or a friend who may know of RE Halls wartime experiences as like my father he was on special duties.

Hi Pru,
Thanks for the info.
Although Beirut is not mentioned in my fathers service record and he is in the photo, I think it dates it about Sept 1943 ++
