Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Look up request
« on: Wednesday 04 July 12 12:00 BST (UK)  »
I have this birth certificate, as Frederick Jame Bembridge would have been my great grandfather. His mother is Jemima Bembridge 1862-1898 (later married Daines) but the father isn't listed at all on cert. A family story is that the child was born out of wedlock and so raised by the grandparents. Don't believe that Mr Daines was the father but they did have they're own kids later on in life.

I believe the young girl to be Edith Bembridge (born 1908) youngest daughter of Thomas and Emma. Still no idea about the elder chap tho.

Thanks for your help! Had that information about Jemima/Emma already but does that mean they are buried at Thornton? Have checked it once but will go again tomorrow :)

The Bembridge/Bainbridge christian names are:

Thomas Bembridge 1873-1931
William George Bembridge 1898-1984
George Henry Bembridge 187-1955
Emma Bembridge 1870-1943 (born Wright)

Could you send me all 9 results though as there are others I havent looked into yet.

Again thanks for all your help!

Mark

Dave it cant be 1918 beacuse they lived at 29 Frederick street Leicester at that time, if this photo is from Thornton it would have been taken before that. Either that or they were just visiting Thornton for this photo.

Hi Mike

I saw this post and wondered if you could help me with burials in Leicester aswel?

Family is Bembridge (variations - Baimbridge, Bainbridge)

Any help at all would be great, I have been to Welford Road today but its impossible to look through everyone when I'm not even sure anyone is buried there.

The only other name I'm looking for is a Jemima Daines 1862-1898.

Any help at all would be great if you have those records.

Regards

Mark Bembridge

Greeting’s…….. Fek 33.

Most inner City Churches stopped burials in their Churchyards
Aprox 1855. ( unless it was to reunite families )

Most of the burials were directed to the newly opened Welford Road Cemetery
( Which I have details for 1849 through to 1950.)

If I can help just post details ……

MIKE.

Jemima was servant of the Beck family in Leicester, she later married Benjamin Daines and had children with him. But there is no record at all as to who is Frederick's father.
