Armagh / Re: Wm McCONNELL Mary Jane BLAIR Lurgan

Anita,

Your post is interesting to me.  I am fairly sure that your address "Bones Lane" is in fact Bowens Lane.  The Bowen family are shown as living in a first class house in Tiersogue at the end of Bowens Lane in the 1901 census.
My g g grandfather was William McConnell born in 1799 in Lurgan, occupation- a weaver.  One of my Uncles did a family tree and got back as far as William.
William married but I don't have his wife's details or how many children they had.  (I assume that the family were Methodists as my g Grandfather was Methodist.)
William had a son John McConnell (1834-1902) my g grandfather and he also lived in Lurgan in a townland called Tiersogue at the end of Bowens Lane, off the Banbridge Road.  (You can see it on Google) John Married Anne George, whose family also lived on Bowens Lane in 1858.
Could it be that your William McConnell who married Mary Jane Blair was in fact a brother of  my g grandfather John McConnell (1834-1902)?
If so their father was William McConnell and according to my records he died in Lurgan 1967.
If you have any record of your William McConnell's siblings that would be interesting.

My family is the McConnell family from Tiersogue sometimes spelt Tirsogue.  Tiersogue is off the Banbridge Road at the end of Bowens Lane, on the fringe of Lurgan.
The Calvert name is familiar and appears in our family tree.
John McConnell (1834-1902) and Anne (nee George, 1836-1909), Methodists, had a daughter Annie, (born 8/05/1967) who married Thomas Calvert and they had six children.  Their names were George, Jack, Nancy, Mary, Grace and Dorothy.  Mary and Grace lived in Dublin and were married to Fred McLennan.  As I recall it Fred married his sister-in law following the death of his first wife.
Would Thomas be connected to your family?

I believe that John McConnell (born 1834, died 1902) mentioned in your post was my great grandfather who was a Weaver.  He lived off what is now called Bowens Lane, Banbridge Road, Lurgan, Co. Armagh.
You can see it on Google Maps but not yet on street view.

Hi,

My g g grandmother was Elizabeth Boyle, born 5/3/1829 in Drumgask (Seagoe). She had three younger brothers, James (1831), William (1836), and Isaac (1842).There may have been more siblings and by the time Isaac was born the family had moved to Tirsogue (Tiersogue, Shankill, Lurgan Rural). Elizabeth's father was John Boyle, a tenant farmer, and her mother was Margaret Levingston. John was still alive and had a farm tenancy in Tirsogue at Griffith Valuation. He also had a sub-tenant, John McConnell.

All of the Boyles mentioned above, except John and Margaret, moved to Scotland where the males worked as coalminers in Lanarkshire. Elizabeth married a James Smith some time before 1851 and the marriage would have taken place in Ireland. James was killed in 1862 in a mining accident in Scotland, and Elizabeth re-married my g g grandfather, Charles Walker. Charles was also born in Ireland, but his birthplace remains unknown despite extensive research.

Does anyone have any further info on any of the people referred to above? I would be very much obliged to here from anyone who has researched them or who has any knowledge of them whatsoever.
