Australia / John McNeil

Hi Milly, I am new to this site, still getting lost.  I was in Barra a few weeks ago trying to find out about McNeil, the Heritage centre was not very helpful, I was only there for 2 days, a hurricane was blowing everything shut, I did find a grave with a John McNeil and Mary McNeil he was about 28yrs, death by drowning.  My family are predominantly John & Matthew McNeils, maybe I had relatives that went to Aus'. If I can be of any help, don't hesitate. Johns grave was beside that of the author of 'Whisky Galore'.  Good luck  from John McNeil.

Thank you to everyone. You are so professional, beats my sumising.
I can only imagine that after Blanche died Edward and his wife took on his younger half brothers and sisters or some of them at least which is how they came to be in WA. Daisy was only 17 when she married in Perth so this fits.
I will now look for how Sydney went to NSW and maybe his marriage as we know he is buried in Hamilton.
The name Elgin - there is an Elgin Road in Beechworth and the Nicholls decendants certainly live there.
Neither Blanche nor her son Edward were related to me but the four children she bore became my G Grandfathers half brothers and sisters . It is amazing how intrigued I am by her and what became of her children after she died.
