Hi all

Thank you so much for clarifying the Mary Eke situation. Any chance of something on John Turner who was recorded as a widower when he married Mary Eke.

Pretty sure John Turner (widower) and Mary Eke (widow) married 11 June 1821 at Dereham, Norfolk, UK. Son John Turner was baptised at Stalham 18 October 1829.

The next step is to track John back and locate details of his previous marriage. Similarly, Mary Eke's original surname is unknown as is the identity of her deceased husband.

Hi,
I'm stuck on John Turner, a shoemaker who died in Grong Grong NSW in 1876. His death certificate and marriage certificate provide the following information:
Born: London 1929
Father: John Turner whose occupation was: Sawyer
Mother: Mary Eeke
Interestingly, he married Ester Herbert, whose line I have followed to Catherine Blount who was sister to Elizabeth (Bessie) Blount - King Henry VIII's lover and mother to his only acknowledged illegitimate child.
Help.
Jim

Seeking information on Mary Eeke who appears on my 2 x grandfather's marriage certificate as his mother. It states he was born in 1829 as John Turner to John Turner, a lawyer (or sawyer), and Mary Eeke in London.

OK.  I'm back on deck after a visit to Las Vegas, a new grandchild and a very busy Christmas period.  And I should say a belated Merry Xmas to all on the board.  Yes, you are correct Mirf.  Henry married Sarah who passed away in 1859 and then married Deborah France in 1862.

Thanks for the welcome Trish1120.  As very much a newby, it's really appreciated.  There is quite a bit to review in all of this.  As well, I've just been contacted by a "France" relation in Australia who has provided some more recent information.   It seems the blanks from  1900 onward are easy to fill in, but Honley is the problem - particularly from William and Martha backwards.

I'm off to Las Vegas on holidays (?!) for a couple of weeks, after which I'll take up the chase again.

Thanks to both you and Isobelruss.

Wow.  Great work and super quick as well.  Thanks very much.  I wonder if, in your travel through history, you might have come across anyone researching the France families of Honley, Yorks?

Tks again.

I'm living in Australia and have traced my paternal grandmother's ancestors back to Henry France (b.1808 Honley, Yorks) and his spouse Sarah Newhill (b. 1811 Farnley Tyas, Yorks).  Sadly, I've hit a brick wall.  Can anyone suggest any on-line resources other than ancestry.com as I've exhausted their records.
