I thought readers might like to know that two of the French "children" who were rescued from Boulogne on the 22 May 1940 and spent five years at Smyllum Orphange returned to Lanark this year.

They left Boulogne with the nuns and teachers who looked after them at the orphanage in Boulogne and spent five happy years far away from the war.
But they knew that some of the other children at Smyllum were not so fortunate ...
