A great aunt emigrated to Adelaide in 1927 at the age 38, the ship's passenger list gives her occupation as a waitress.

Is it likely that she already had an offer of a job or would she have had to find a job on arrival. Unfortunately the passenger list does not state with whom or where she was going to stay.

Hi Melanie, I've replied to your message.

For anyone else that are interested, John was the son of Sydney's wife from her first marriage, though he later took the surname Ellis.

Thank you to anyone that has helped previously.

You could always try your local library, mine has free access to both Ancestry and FindMyPast, it's a cheap option.

I'm not contacting any more relatives, 3 relatives, one of whom I hadn't seen for over 60 years, the other two much younger, only to attending their funerals less than 3 months later. :(
