Hi cork_lrel and dathai

Thank you for your postings re Joseph Keppel.  To date I have no information that links him to my family. I shall investigate further.

 Hi Brett.

Welcome to RootsChat and best wishes with your research.

Sorry I am unable to assist you with your quest as to date my research over the past decade has not discovered a link between the family you are researching and my family.

My research takes me back to c1800 in County Cork.  The earliest confirmed record for my family dates from the Baptismal record in December 1835 of the oldest known sibling of my great grand father Maurice.

I have not discovered any earlier records for the family. Therefore I do not know if there is a link with the descendants of Arnold Joost van Keppel, 1st Earl of Albemarle.

You may have some success with your quest by posting your message on the forum for England.

Best wishes with your research.

Kiskeam.

Thank you Gaffy and Sinnan for your detailed responses which  are most helpful.

Meelin definitely "fits the bill" as that town regularly features in the Kepple family history
I have gathered to date.

Cork / Where in Co Cork is Moyln?
« on: Wednesday 23 July 14 04:57 BST (UK)  »

I have recently obtained the death certificate of a grand uncle William Keppel, (son of John Kepple and Catherine O'Riordan) born 02.05.1838 in Newmarket. That certificate records that he married Johanna O'Sullivan (daughter of Michael O'Sullivan and Margaret Bailey) in 1870 in MOYLN Co Cork. William died in 1915 and Johanna died in 1922 and are buried in the Kew (Boroondara) Cemetery, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

I have located a Moyln Park in Kiskeam, but have had no success tracing Molyn. Any assistance would be appreciated as I am visiting Co Cork in August.

Cork / Re: Look-up in Cork Register's Office
« on: Tuesday 15 July 14 04:12 BST (UK)  »

Thanks Mary and Louise for detailing the need to have received an appointment for a visit to the
Office, so I shall not spend time calling at the Office.

Seven years ago I purchased information from the Mallow Heritage Centre regarding my grand father's family. The information detailed the Baptism Records for his nine elder siblings and the
Baptism records for two of his nephews and niece.  In my case that information justified the costs, as it gave me a greater understanding of my grand father's family.

Thanks again for all you combined help.

Many thanks  Mary for the link.  I shall now be able to do more research regarding the possible resting places of my grandparents' relatives. As a result I may know which Churches and burial places to visit.  The more research I do before my visit frees up time to visit those locations in Newmarket, Meelin and Kiskeam.

Hi Mary

I shall be visiting Cork in mid August (from New Zealand). If time allows I maybe able to visit the Registry Office. I would appreciate advice as to location and opening times for this office.

Regards Pat(rick).
