Are you sure she was Martha - she is not on the 1881 census with Joseph & Ellen & your current post refers to a Mercy Carter who is on the 1881 census entry??

She is in service at that time with another family

Easily found on the 1921 census.  Use Rupert’s details to find them

You give Shropshire as Mercy’s birthplace but she incorrectly gives it as St Helens on census entries.  She was b Shropshire but was living in St Helens in 1881 hence her confusion
Yes I know the exact church she was baptised

Lancashire / John and Mercy

Hi good people, I, m trying to find any info on what happened to a Mercy Carter, born in Shropshire 1872 but moved to Lancashire around 1880. She married a John Rowland Jones in 1906 Didsbury and apparently we're living in Preston 1911 with 2 children Rupert and Ellis. Can't see much after this, either a death for Mercy or what happened to Rupert and Ellis? Thanks in advance

Seems James and Martha had 5 children and Martha was still alive in Chorlton 1921. Can't see a death for her or any marriages for her children.
