Hi Maureen
Strangely enough I was in Langholm yesterday and visited grandfathers house in Jamie's Brae. I have an extended family tree which I can email to you if we can manage to get contact details. It will be good to catch up after 50 odd years!!

Hi Thanks for your input. I have the family tree prepared by Kenneth Beattie - he was my father's (George) brother.
That said I have quite a number of gaps on your side of the family which I would like to fill.
If you would like a CD of the Beattie tree please comeback at *
and you can see where my deficiencies are.

Hi Folks
Well I think that we have a tenuous connenction with The Langholm & Hawick Beatties. In Bruce's Hawick & the War there is a paragraph which mentions Pte James Beattie sending a Greek coin to his brother D J Beattie who lived at Scotsknowe Carlisle. The following link from the Eskdale & Liddlesdale Advertiser confirms this is the same D J Beattie (grandfather)  http://www.eladvertiser.co.uk/news/langholm_s_forgotten_son_1_648450
The only problem I have is that their parents did not live in Hawick but presumably James did!

Hi Robbie
In response to your enquiry regarding issue of Robert John Beattie I can help a little. He had 2 daughters and a son. Elizabeth Beattie whose married name is Graham, Agnes Beattie and Thomas Beattie. I don't have any further information and have gleaned this from various other family trees. I am the grandson of David Johnstone Beattie. It is likely that there will be connection with Hawick although I have not found it as yet.
Best wishes

Hi Stoney
How good to hear from you - I have turned up such a lot of info since my last post. I now have a photo from the person actually living in the house where David and presumably Joseph lived in Langholm.
A family tree is shortly to be sent to me also.
So where do you live now? Here is a web site which I discovered last week - you will enjoy!!

I have just come across this site. David J Beattie was my paternal grandfather.
His family were Connie, Elsie, Ronald, Wilson, George(my father) and Kenneth.
I too have a copy of the family tree prodiced by Kenneth.
Will fill in any questions if I am able.
