Thank you for that interesting information. Here are my plates. The top right is, I believe, from the Fort William mail coach

I am also interested in Stage Coach travel in the Kingussie/Fort William area. I collect license plates and I have one plate from the Fort William Mail Coach from the reign of King George IV

Thanks everyone. That has helped a lot. Both are definitely the same George William Frampton so it must just be an incredible coincidence that he married two Mary Ann Andrews!

Its all very confusing. On the 1865 marriage her father is given as Stephen Andrews and in 1873 Edward Knowler. I am getting something wrong!

Kent / Mary Ann Knowler
« on: Monday 21 June 21 11:22 BST (UK)  »
I have  Mary Ann Knowler, believed born 1832 in Chilham, Kent in my family tree. However I am thoroughly confused as she seems to have married one of my ancestors, George William Frampton, born 1843 in Stone Kent, twice. Once as Mary Ann Knowler in 1865 and again as Mary Ann Andrews in 1873. Its driving me mad! Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Richard, Great to find someone with an interest in the Wimborne Framptons. I have not found the baptismal record so I would be interested to see that. I find this search very interesting as I am actually researching my wife's Chevalley family and found this connection with my Frampton surname. Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards Steve Frampton

Assuming that I am not going off on a wild goose chase (which I am very good at!). Reuben Short married Catherine Frampton in Southampton in 1839. There has to be a link somewhere there.

It may just be a red herring but, bearing in mind that J F Chevalley was a cook, I have found the Mail Coach Inn listed in King Street, Wimborne. In the 1851 census is listed an Emma Frampton who is a niece of the owner. Could be that Louisa and J F worked and met there?
