Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Re: 1851 Census - Look up please.
« on: Monday 07 November 11 20:31 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

Looking on familysearch, I think the Jane that Patrish has found is the widow of a Thomas Brown. Daniel was baptised Rugeley in 1807, son of Thomas and Jane. Etchinghill is given as his birthplace and this is on the NE side of Rugeley.
No idea about Jane's birthplace though.

Staffordshire / Re: Where is Blithfield?

Hello,

Only two buildings were affected when the reservoir was constucted along the river valley. There is information about it at www.blithfield.com/. The website www-old-maps.com gives you the layout of the land prior to and after the reservoir's constuction (put Admaston into the Gazetteer).

Hope this is helpful to you.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Where Were Sarah's Children Born?
« on: Friday 16 September 11 18:43 BST (UK)  »
Hello
If you have the maiden surname for Sarah you might be lucky with entering the children's names on Staffordshirebmd.org.uk baptism section. In a lot of cases the mother's maiden name is given and it can be of help.

Hello,

THe marriage cert might not help as the Parish Record entry from berkswich.org.uk  for the marriage of Thomas Thompson and Mary Shaw says her father unknown.
I suggested the possibility of the Barton birth on another thread.

Hello,

Just a bit of information as it might put light on the various spellings for Brewood - it is pronounced Brood (rhyming with food).

Hello again,

Possible wife for Thomas Thompson:
The LDS site gives a baptism for a Mary Shaw on 18th Jan 1816 in Barton under Needwood. Parents Francis and Sarah. This would fit with her birthplace as given in the censuses.

Hello,

Try www.berkswich.org.uk - the parish records give his baptism and the marriage of his parents.

Staffordshire completed Look up Requests / Re: Dairy Fold, Leigh, Staffordshire
« on: Sunday 04 September 11 20:38 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I would think it is quite possible. On the 1841 census, a John Hollins and family are at Dairy House in Upper Leigh.
Actually the family is transcribed as Kelling and the family of Thomas Hollins at Bittern's Dale is Kollins with children on next page as Wollins.

Please accept my apologies if you knew this already.
