He was an interesting man and very influential in development of the Castlemaine, Mt Alexander region in Victoria.i am starting to get a picture of him before Australia. I continue to ponder on his coming here and the call of gold which he soon surrendered for a return to medical practice. There are parts of a journal in his son George's book "Banking under Difficulties" that goes no further than building castles in the air, "Australia Felix" and the land of gold.
