He was an interesting man and very influential in development of the Castlemaine, Mt Alexander region in Victoria.i am starting to get a picture of him before Australia. I continue to ponder on his coming here and the call of gold which he soon surrendered for a return to medical practice. There are parts of a journal in his son George's book "Banking under Difficulties" that goes no further than building castles in the air, "Australia Felix" and the land of gold.
TheAmerican family tree is odd. I have a copy of marriage lines from Brechin of William Preshaw and Margaret Mathers in 1807. Bpoid
