Hi, what a suprise...I am the daughter of Claude Glover the youngest son of Lucy and Charlie and the only one still alive, he was 85 in May. Dads memories of Claude are a bit hazy , he told me Claude was a baker and at some time a postmaster in the outback but I'm not sure what was true.
It would be great to fine out what Claude Wellington did and what family there is in Australia, I do have a few photos which I think has Claude in them, one possibly when he came home for a visit. I will have to check how to send you my email address and address incase there was the possibility of meeting up when you visit. M

Thank you, I did wonder about the Brookwood cemetry as that seemed logical to me, I have her documents from SHC it includes 3 items but does not say where she was buried.
I only know the family lived at Victoria street in Westminster, will have to do some more digging.
Thanks again

Surrey Completed Look up Requests / Relative died in Brookwood Asylum, buried where
« on: Friday 05 September 14 17:51 BST (UK)  »
Having recently watched the programmes on asylums I re checked a death certificate for husbands ggm Grace Sorrell, she died in Brookwood asylum in 1895 of the 'General paralysis of the insane'
Grace had been arrested for trying to commit suicide,by throwing herself in a pond in Cobham, surrey then taken to Holloway prison then sent to Epsom Union for 3 days and then to Brookwood.
What I'm asking is where would she have been buried? I have some documents arrived today from Surrey History Centre and it says her husband could contribute to her maintenance there. Could he have brought her back to London to be buried? She was born in Somerset and I think her family all moved to London, another track I've gone down today. Grace around 1875 went to New Zealand but I think she met George on board the ship ,he was a sailor and they came back together,I aready have them on the 1881 census..... so much to look for now..
anyway any help with the burial greatly welcome.got to go out now and do something else to give my head a rest.

Sorry , It is thought that she is deceased now, though the relative who kept in touch with her is dead.

Trying to find the birth of Joyce Adams (my Fathers cousin) I think she was born between 1925 and 1935. Her parents were Claude Wellington Adams  and Rosa Myra Adams (Kirk). They were married in 1920 and lived in or near Prahan!  I know Joyce married as I have a picture of her in her dress, but don't know who to.
Many thanks

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Re: Croydon Road Beckenham - Russell
« on: Friday 04 February 11 17:34 GMT (UK)  »
There used to be the Croydon General hospital in London road, Croydon . I went there in 1963 to have my foot xrayed and plastered, andmy brother also had an operation.  Closed may years ago.  As I understood it the workhouse was in Queens Road, became an 'old peoples' hospital in the 60's.My Grandfather spent his last days here.  older family members recall it as the workhouse.

just for info Beckenham is just over the border in Kent.
