Hi Megan

I did a bit more research, parents of John are William Hunter & Elizabeth Wood (as far as I can make out). They married 1 Oct 1798 - Woolley, Yorkshire.

Children
George 1798 - 1798 Woolley
Mary 1800 - ?   Staincross
John 1802 - 1878 Staincross
William 1805 - 1875 Darfield
Jane 1806 - 1880 Darfield
Samuel 1811 - 1812 Wentworth

It looks like I got the same as you. I have an offline tree but also have the Hunter DNA on Ancestry if you have a subscription to that. At the moment I can't get any further back due to it being a common name

Thanks
Avril

Gill, re Agnes Mercy etc

"There's something odd about Agnes Mary/ Agnes Mercia/Agnes Mercy in that Agnes Mary's birth is recorded in 1907, but her parents Joseph and Mary (Murray) also had another child in 1925, recorded as Agnes Mercy. "

GRO index says the 1925 entry is a late entry. It is well late!!

Gill/PeteBam, would it be possible to forward the info for Alfred Sullivan Fairey to me please as I was also stuck to know what happened to him after 1891. Also I am in touch with a family member of who is descended from Agnes Mercy Fairey (1907 - 1982).

Many thanks

Thank you for the info, I have looked at this previously, the cost is too much. If I knew he had been adopted it would be a different matter but I am unsure what has happened to him.

I am trying to track down my mums cousin who was born 8 Sep 1941 in Hendon. (Possibly still alive so I haven't mentioned his name)

His father was William Mitchell we think he was born in Scotland as he was known as Jock Mitchell. From the 1939 Register I have found a William Mitchell in the Lincoln area born 1913 whose job of some description of electrical job matches the occupation on the certificate of the child.

The childs mother was called Eileen Ada Hunter or Cook. Her maiden name was Hunter, she married Jack Cook, had a son called Peter (now deceased) but left Jack and got together with Jock.

The child was registered in Hendon, the address at the time was 2b Uphill Parade, Kingsbury. (I have the birth certificate)

Eileen eventually went back to Jack Cook but the child was handed over to his father Jock Mitchell and never seen of again.

I am wondering if the child was adopted as I cannot find any information in either England or Scotland for him.

If anyone can help please I would be forever grateful.

Many thanks
Avril

I am slightly confused about Joseph F - was he the brother of Naomi Bodger (parents John Fairey & Thomasin Lawson/Voss)? If he was then I really am confused as I have his birth in 1828, his death in 1851 St Neots and married to Rhoda Church!

Please confirm which Joseph F we are talking about as I am loosing the plot, thanks

Avril
