Some good research there, Trish. Are you related or just helping out?
John was indeed baptised on 9 June 1765. He was the second child of William and Sarah. Siblings:Mary baptised in 1762: Robert in 1768, Elizabeth in 1774 and Thomas in 1777.
John's father William, baptised 1723 was the second son of William and Mary. Siblings: Samuel baptised in 1721, John in 1727, Elizabeth in 1729, Mary in 1730 and Robert in 1734. All at St Andrews.
John and Sarah had ten children starting with Sarah born in Denton in 1778 and ending with David born in 1806. I am a direct descendant of David. John and Sarah started the Costessey dynasty of Doggett's from which most Norfolk rooted Doggetts can trace their family.
As you have spotted, there are many spelling variations that make research difficult.
