It is possible that John Willock is my great-grandfather (maternal). My grandfather was James Willock who lived for some time in Singapore with his family on La Salle's rubber plantation. My grandfather had a number of brothers including Vivianne & Ivan.

Thanks Sue

Hi

The Isle of Man post office commemorated 175 years of the RNLI in 1999, founded by Sir William Hillary 1771-1847. On the front page they have mistakenly used a picture of 'veteran Douglas lifeboat coxswain, Isaac Vondy, who accompanied Sir William Hillary on so many of his missions of mercy.' Details can be found in the book by Robert Kelly, 'For those in Peril'. I have found a record of John Vondy who was a marine fireman in the IOM, born circa 1865. He may have had a son, John Vondy born about 1883 and a daughter, Elizabeth M Agnes.

Does anyone have any connections with Isaac who was a coxswain on rescue boats?. Relatives connected to him are John Vondy a marine fireman of Jurdy I believe. Both related to me on my father's side.

Many thanks

I am following up my daughter, Vicki's, post re Celestine La Salle who was my great-grandmother. A gentleman called John Hyper replied but I am unable to contact him as his email is unavailable.

I am trying to trace part of my family history up until the 1930's. My mother lived on her grandmother's plantations on Bukit Timah Rd, Singapore. Her grandmother's name was Celestine LaSalle by her second marriage - she was formerly the widow of James Willock, born in Rangoon. She and her second husband owned La Salle's rubber plantations on Bukit Timah Road . The family left Singapore in the 1930's for London. I have more info but too much to post - if anyone may be able to help please mail me. Hoping this has some connection to your Willock of Rangoon.

 Many thanks, Sue Healy.
