Durham / Re: Seldom Seen, Newfield
« on: Wednesday 10 September 25 18:33 BST (UK)  »
Hello Everyone

I am writing this on the off chance someone picks it up.

I have spent the afternoon searching online, unsuccessfully for the burials of infants George Musther and Jane/ Charlotte Jopling who were buried 13 Nov 1856 in the Newfield area . Their address was Never Seen, Newfield at death and Dad worked as a Colliery brakesman. Given that the last reply was 5 years ago can anyone suggest if there is anywhere new  to look online for the Burials please? I have searched Ancestry, FindMyPast, FS and Durham records online with no luck!

Many thanks Sally

Post removed.
My apologies I was so anxious to try and solve this mystery that I just didn't consider the fact I was writing about living/possibly living people

Apologies Andrew
I have been away for a few weeks since my last reply.
Referring back to post 15 it appears that it is not just a straightforward double of one page.
I am going to bring this post to a close now as my query has been answered.
Thank you all.

.........and finally a reply appeared which stated the following

"Dear Mrs Meek

Thank you for your recent enquiry.

We have checked the pages at the index reference 1985 September 14 1583 & 1584.

The entry for George Twigg appears on page 1584.

We can only advise that an error was made at the time the indexes were compiled which shows the name on both page 1583 & 1584.

We hope this information helps.

Regards"

So nothing untoward, just human error.

Thanks everyone for your input.

Sally

Just to let everyone know I am still waiting for a reply to my query from the GRO.

Incidentally the Copy death cert I received appears to be a photocopy of the original detail with the actual signature of the informant.

Looking at the pages more closely it seems 3 entries have been "doubled up". Hmmmm
