Cumberland Lookup Requests / Re: Graham of Wetheral
« on: Wednesday 21 September 11 13:20 BST (UK)  »
Hi Kinsy,

I am researching the Mandell family in Cumberland and would be very interested in any information you might have on Thomas Mandell, the land he was farming at Wetheral, and the relationship between Thomas Mandell and John Graham.

Many members of the Mandell family became ministers of the Church of England and I am especially interested in further examples within the extended family.

I am at a fairly early stage in the research and have yet to pay a visit to the Archives in Carlisle, but will hopefully get there in the next month and would be very happy to look things up for you / share information wherever our interests overlap.

Regards,
Jane

Warwickshire / John MANDELL of Milverton

Hi there,

I'm looking for a favour from a Warwickshire researcher. I'm studying the MANDELL family in Cumberland and I have a memorial inscription from Boltongate, Cumberland as follows:

In memory of... John MANDELL, curate of Milverton, Warwickshire, who died Oct 3rd 1847 aged 49 years.

I have quite a bit of info on him, his wife Catherine LOWTH and several children from censuses, BMDs, etc but I'm wondering if there might be a gravestone for the family in Milverton with some additional information.

If anyone is able to do a lookup for me, or has any local knowledge of this family, I'd be very grateful.

Many thanks,
Jane Barton

The churchyard's not very big but some of the older gravestones are very worn, even so I should be able to identify the right one. I'll see what I can do for you, Carol, let's hope weather and small children co-operate  :)

I hope to visit Bolton churchyard next weekend. Let me know if there's anything you'd like me to look out for and/or photograph.
