« on: Monday 10 October 11 21:28 BST (UK) »
My great Grandfather Daniel Byrne was born abt 1868 I think his brothers were John, Joseph, Ignatius and parents I believe were Thomas Byrne & Rebecca O’Connor. Do not know what happened to Daniel Byrne abt 1868 -
Daniel Byrne married Mary Cummins born abt 1876 (Christina Mary Cummins) though called herself Mary (Maryanne Cummins was her mother, Father not known) Do not know what happened to Mary Byrne abt 1875abt -
Daniel & Mary Byrnes children were:
Daniel Thomas Byrne b: abt 1893 who died in WW1 - 11099 Private Daniel BYRNE - RDF 1st Battalion Killed in action 15th June 1915.. Age 22. Twelve Tree Copse Cemetery - Turkey. Son of Mary Byrne, of 6 Vance’s Buildings, Bishop St, Dublin. Gallipoli Medal card gives KIA 15.6.1915.
Edward Ignatius Byrne b: abt 1895 died in WW1 – 10225 CPL Edward Byrne - RIR - Killed in France 31.8.1916.
Rebecca Mary Byrne (My Great Grandmother) b: 1898 died 1989 and Married a William Fox from England whom I believe was NOT a Roman Catholic and apparently this caused a rift ?? Rebecca lived in England until she died. Rebecca & William had a Son whom lives in England and a daughter whom went to live in Australia until she died of breast cancer.
Mary Anne Byrne b: abt 1900 - ?? Married ??
Thomas Joseph Byrne B: abt 1902 - ?? Married ??
Christina Byrne B: abt 1904 - ?? Married ??
Lizzie Byrne B: abt 1906 - ?? Married ??
1901 Census had the Byrne family living at 26.6 Cumberland Street (South Trinity) DUBLIN. With Mother in law Maryanne Cummins.
1911 Census had the Byrne Family living at 13 Vance’s Building DUBLIN CITY Minus Daniel Junior.
1915 It is noted that when Daniel Junior Died his Mother was living at 6 Vance’s Buildings, Bishop St, Dublin. No mention of his Father did he die between 1911-1915 ??
1923 It is Noted that Mary Byrne was still living at 6 Vance’s Buildings, Bishop St, Dublin. As it is on My Great Grandmother Rebecca's daughters birth certificate that Mary Byrne was present at birth her signature was a X.
I would love to know what happened to the Byrne Relatives but am drawing blanks where ever I go.
