Neil

I don't know too much other than he arrived in Australia in the early 1900's. He was either an Afghan or Indian. My father tells me he was a camel driver in the Boer war. He was a bankrupt in Australia in 1904 and on the transcrpts he said he was in the british army prior to coming to Australia.

Thats basically all i know mate.

Thanks

Rob

Thanks Trish

All info very helpful. I am going try immigration records first and then l'll do the death cert thing. But as you know that being a common name there's quite a few. I wish he had a name like Aloyouis or something.

thanks again

Rob

Yes Trish l had those births plus another in 1842...Mary to James and Elinor Farrell. Whether this is the same family l don't know.

But looking at the deaths there are a lot to James and Ellen Farrell so whether or not they had more children that were not recorded would be a guess.

And yesl don't think the Ellen Maguire marriage would be mine.

I take it that the AVRI doesn't give the mothers name.

The Mudgee Farrell's l would guess are possibly mine. It is not far from both Bathurst and Orange where Annie married and Catherine died. Annie husband also lived and worked at Wellington which too is in the general area.

I have looked at some immigration records but no luck as yet. But l am looking for a married couple and who knows they possiby could of married interstate.

Probably the only thing l can do is guess on a death cert. I have never applied for one from NSW. If per chance l guess the right one will they give his/her parents name and any known children ?

I have since found l was barking up the wrong tree.

i found her death .

Annie Emily McCready nee Farrell died 1899 Perth WA. Born 1851 Bathurst NSW. Parents James Farrell and Eleanor Bassett.

And again another problem. I have had a look at NSW bdms and there are quite a few children born to James and Ellen Farrell.....too many. So l have tryed to fing James and Ellens marriage and the only one l have found is a James Farrell and Ellen Maquire not Bassett.

any ideas ????????

Kilkenny / Larrisay - Whelan Marriage in Kilkenny
« on: Tuesday 12 February 08 22:15 GMT (UK)  »
I don't know if anyone can help but.....

I am looking for the wedding of John Larrisay and Mary Whelan in Kilkenny around 1825-35 and the birth of any of their children.

One of my wifes ancestors was a Julia Larrisay and was married in Sydney, Australia in 1856 to a John Williams of London.

The only clues l have to her parentage is what was recorded on her wedding certificate.

It has her parents names and Julias birthplace.

She was born around 1835 in Kilkenny.

Her parents are listed as John Larrisay and Mary Whelan.

Hoping someone can help.

PS
taking into accouint the spelling varants as even on the wedding certificate it is spelt differently....three times. Larrisy, Larrissy and Larrisay

Australia / Farrell Help Please

Hi Guys

I am hoping someone can help me. I have found the births of a branch of my family but nothing else..... ie death or marriage. I don't know if anyone out there has a resource for it but here goes.

Parents

Edward Farrell and Mary (unknown)

children
Robert J Farrell       b1836 NSW, Australia
Edward Farrell        b1837 NSW, Australia
George T Farrell      b1839     ~
Annie E Farrell         b1842   ~
Joseph Farrell          b1843    ~
Thomas Farrell         b1845     ~
John Farrell              b1848   ~
Thomas Farrell         b1849   ~

The only info l have got was that Annie married a James McCreadie in 1874 and died after 1892 and before 1908.Also one of Annies children married and died in Western Australia.

A possibility is a marriage in NSW for the guys parents

Edward Farrell m Martha M Burrowes 1833 in NSW as perhaps her middle name was Mary.

What l really need is a death for one of the children as it may give a clue to Edwards marriage.

Hi All

The wedding cert was useless no info other than thir ages and place of residence.

The only bit of info was that they were married at Edward McCreadies residence...father or uncle maybe. One of the witnesses was a Bridget Farrell possibly sister, or in-law or cousin??

I have since worked out Annies birth... 1842 in NSW her parents Edward and Mary.

But again l can't find their marriage or deaths

And l still haven't found the birth or death of James McCreadi.

Hoping for help or advice,

Zimmerman

Sparrett.
I don't think the William H Tyrer marrying Eliza in Sydney is mine as in 1839 my GGGMother was born at Kangaroo Island with her parents being William and Mary.

Unless he was leading a double life...now very possible..back then ? dont think so
