 Hi there, Koschi

Many thanks for your note regarding Penningroth. I  don't think it is my Penningroth but it is worth following up as there would not have been too many Penningroths living in Elberfeld at that time. Do you know if Peter (Heinrich) had any relatives alive at that time as they may have distant links with my one. It was quite a large familywith roots going back some way.
 Thanks again

Galway / ATHY Family
« on: Thursday 14 March 13 19:33 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to trace the pedigree line for the Athy family who lived in Galway from 1275 to 1642. I have much of it already but have some confusion as to the family relationships during the period 1505 to 1615 as I have two different versions for this period of time for the family from John (  born about 1505) to Francis (born about 1615 in Athy Castle).  Can anyone help me sort out this tangle.

Canada Lookup Request / Rachel & James Watkins
« on: Sunday 03 March 13 18:55 GMT (UK)  »
I have recently been researching the birth, death and marriage details for the above persons. The details I have discovered shows that James was born in the USA in 1860 and Rachel in Smith Falls,Lanark South, Ontario, Canada, on 16 May 1868. Both have been shown with parents as Henery G  and Elizabeth Watkins.  However on obtaining a copy of the 1871 Canadian census this shows on page 16 for the Province of Ontario District 79 South Lanark, Sub-District Smith Falls, on lines 17 - 20 the Watkins family as it was at that time. I note that in column 33 (Remarks) Rachel and James are noted as "adopted child". I would assume from this that Henery and Elizabeth are their adoptive parents and Rachel and James have been given the surname Watkins. Is it possible to  obtain a copy of the adoption orders, and details of the biological parents, for the two children especially Rachel as she is part of the family pedigree? Any help would be appreciated. Living in New Zealand as I do, it is not possible to carry out any searches of Canadian archives in person.

Gnu,
Many thanks for the information on Mary McRae. I am sorry I have not replied earlier but with Xmas and all that jazz, the matter was completely overlooked. The details you supplied were very helpful and filled in some of the gaps in my records.

I am trying to trace the dates of birth and death of Agnes Aige (Agae) who was born in Govan Larnarkshire about 1696 to Bartholomew Aige and Margaret Smith and married James Ritchie  in 1717 and died about 1796. If possible, I would also like to track down the churchyard where she was buried and find details of her headstone and monumental inscription. Can anyone p;easehelp me?

Thanks for the information concerning the possible sources of infiormation concerning my relative's paents.
His name was Charles Eberhard Penningroth and he was born in Elberfeld, Rheinland, Prussia on 5 June 1837 and baptised on 10 July 1837, in Evangelisch, Elberfeld.
I have tried familysearch.org but all this gives is the names of his parents, Gerhard Heinrich Friedrich Christian Penningroth and Wilhelmine Mueller. Upon looking them up on familysearch, no further details are available hence this enquiry on this site.
The possible Jewish connection has come about as the name Penningroth apppears in the British Jewish Society records.

I am trying to find details of the marriage of this person which I believe may have taken place in Dusseldorf in 1836. I also need details of her parents who came from Eversbrunn, Zwickau.  Can anyone help with this or tell me how I can access the relative German archives.

I have a relative who was born in Elberfeld June 1837. Does anyone know how I can get details of his parents born in the early 1800's  in Prussia. I understand that there is some Jewish connection in his ancestry.
