Hi Sapper106 and Marmaduke123,
Thank you so much for your help, the info about Joseph Fozard should certainly help me to narrow down possible family members.

The info about John and Phoebe is new to me and looks promising, I've never heard of them before which actually is good and as you say the date of marriage fits for his birth year.
I didn't know there were Quakers in the Dewsbury area, but if it is them then maybe thats why I've been having such trouble finding Thomas's parents as they are not in 'regular' records.
I know its too soon to get too excited but thank you very much, its an interesting line for me to try and follow up, I'll get started on them asap. I've often wished that relations had more unusual names to help me track them down and hopefully I've got some here!
Thank you so much for your prompt help, Best Wishes, Lyn

Hi Ian,
Thanks for responding so quickly and for the information,  thats really kind of you and very useful as it cuts out an avenue and now I know 'my' Thomas is not the son of John and Ruth Varey/Varley.
Being a bit cheeky....You don't happen to know anything about the other possible couple John and Elizabeth Blakey and their son Thomas do you?
Thanks for your help, it's much appreciated.
Best wishes, Lyn

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Ossett,Dewsbury, Yorkshire FOZARDS
« on: Friday 04 November 11 00:35 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I just thought and hoped that maybe if anyone who had a Thomas Fozard born abt 1818-21, ? Dewsbury area could add their comments maybe I'd eventually find 'my' Thomas Fozard- he's tricky.
Seen on 1841, 1851, 1861 and 1871 census with his wife and expanding family  but can't find his birth or parents.
Online he's been credited as 'George Thomas' son of John Fozard and Sarah Scott but this doesn't really fit...they already have a living and thriving son George b.1811 who alive and later has his own family, so why two living George boys in same family..not sure!

'My' Thomas Fozard marries Hannah Jagger in 1839 and spends his life 'till 1873 living in Ossett cum Gawthorpe, Yorkshire and raising five children, I'd love to find his 'real' parents...father definately called John Fozard but ?mothers name...attempts at finding her lead towards maybe Elizabeth Blakey or Ruth Varey/Varley but then I hit a 'brick wall' and can't find anything or it's maybe someone else all together..joys of genealogy!
Any help would be fantastic, Thanks

Hi,
I'm also checking out this line and re-examining the likelihood of Thomas being the George Thomas Fozard b.1818 with parents John and Sarah Scott, I'm not convinced as there are a few oddities, i.e. two sons called George, when the first is still alive and well and later married with his own family!
After ages searching everything I can think of I've got two possible sets of parents for this Thomas;
Thomas Fozard- parents John b.1799 and Ruth Varey/Varley b.1800 who marry on 25th Dec 1822 at Woodkirk, Yorks but their son Thomas is christened in 1825 (?born years earlier)and according to one personal site, if correct, marries a Lydia ?Fothergill and has a family-'our' Thomas is married for life to Hannah Jagger.
Next Thomas Fozard has parents John and Elizabeth Blakey who marry 4th dec 1820 at St Peters, Leeds, I think they are the most likely, but I can't find anything else out about them, they seem to disappear, but maybe noone has followed this line of Fozards specifically before us!
Have you looked into these people before and do you have any info you could share?.....please. Any help would be great. Thanks and best wishes.

Hi Gavin,
Thanks for your very prompt reply, thats a great help as I just couldn't find his likely details. I have a lot of the line you indicate thru' John to Joseph as a possible (probably from you earlier-thanks)etc but having done as much as I can on lots of my other lines I'm returning to this one to try and verify as much as I can.
If I find out anything useful I will definately let you know.
Thanks again and best wishes.

Hi Gavin,
I hope after this number of years this link is still active.
We have been in contact before about our relation Thomas Fozard born abt.1819 who married Hannah Jagger in the Dewsbury area, I'm now re-visiting it all in the hope of finding definate info about his parents as more records come online.
Have you ever heard that he may actually have been christened George Thomas? I've been looking thru some of my notes and found an entry I'd put about this, I was wondering if this could help to track his parents down as looking for a Thomas I can only find entries for christenings in 1814 (too early) or 1824 (possibly too late) in the right areas!
Any info you have to add that might help would be great.
Best Wishes

Thank you so much for all your help, and Yes, that marriage to Wilton Curwen is one in my line.
I'm having difficulty getting hold of the marriage entry for John and Ann Parry, I've contacted Manchester Records Office about their 1827 marriage details but the chap couldn't seem to find them the first time, I've since given them the actual date but with no luck, I think maybe he's not allowed to spend time helping in this way as they'd be inundated with requests otherwise.
Do you know how to get the volume and page numbers etc that I would need to actually order a 'copy'?
Thanks again and best wishes.

Hi Suds,
I've just come across a Mary Dynan marrying a John O'Brien on 8th June 1865 at Cathedral, Manchester, Lancashire. The spelling of O'Brien is slightly different but not greatly so, perhaps this could be of help to you. Best Wishes.
