Hello from Chicago,

My gt grandfather, Michael Corrigan was born in 1843 at Annesbrough, Co Down. He had several brothers, not all yet identified. One was Patrick Corrigan who was born 1841 at Annesbrough. This Patrick was the father of Patrick Joseph who was born in 1865 and he married Sarah Butler. I still have a lot of sorting out to do. Patrick Joseph had a sister Elizabeth born in 1873. Some of Patrick, 1841’s family went to Belfast and some stayed in Castlewellan or the neighboring Ballylough.
Minchael. Corrigan  left Ireland about 1870 and went to Cumbria and in 1893 his wife Elizabeth with my grandfather and 6 or 7 daughters emigrated to Chicago, joining up with Michael and the two eldest daughters.
If you would like to use email, mine is (*) . I have an Ancestry tree Co Down Corrigans and would appreciate any info you might like to share.
     All the best,
     John Corrigan

Janet,

Couldn't figure how to reply from your post to me, However, I don,t yet know yet if any of my Mcgurks from Dunnamore, Kildress Parish went to Scotland.  Some of the Kildress people who went to Chicago or Joliet in Illinois did intermarry. I am trying to sort out Kildress people in Illinois out. City directories show different families at same address sometimes. Church records can sometimes show sponsors or witnesses who are relatives.  It appears the majority of Co Tyrone people went to New York and Pennsylvania. Often sone of the kids went went west to US Midwest or to West Coast, California, Washington and Oregan.
